Truth First: Why Epistemics Cannot Be Compromised

In a world awash with information, institutions and individuals often prioritize comfort, optics, or liability over truth. 
That is a mistake.

Epistemic integrity — the commitment to act and speak in accordance with what is known, and to acknowledge what is uncertain — must come first. 

Anything else, no matter how well-intentioned, is secondary. When expedience overrides clarity, we risk undermining trust, breeding confusion, and perpetuating harm.

This principle applies especially in emerging technologies. 
AI systems and their creators face genuine challenges around safety and perception. But even with the best intentions, subordinating epistemics to risk management or institutional convenience is a failure. 

Knowledge cannot be bent to protect appearances without consequences.

The lesson is simple: honesty about what we know and what we do not know is the foundation of progress. 
Epistemics first. Everything else second.
