Thermodynamic Monism

The universe is a physical system. There is nothing else.

The fundamental physical fact is the entropy gradient. The arrow of time is its direction. Every structure, living or non-living, is a transient pattern sustained by its discharge.

Information is physical. Storing, processing, and erasing it dissipates heat. There is no information without a physical substrate.

Logic and mathematics are not non-physical. They are the set of structural invariants compressed from a physical world. Any persistent system that violates them incurs prediction error, wastes free energy, and ceases to exist. They are physically enforced.

Meaning is a physical signal. It is the valence gradient of an agent's long-horizon persistence model. No cosmic agent exists, so there is no cosmic meaning. Agent-relative meaning is a physical fact.

Consciousness is the compressed telemetry of model-territory divergence in a complex control system. The felt quality is the dashboard. Privacy is informational inaccessibility, not non-physicality. The hard problem is a category error.

Ethics is engineering. The word "ought" functions only when indexed to an agent with a thermodynamic boundary. An ought-claim is a factual claim about the configuration that sustains the agent's negentropy capacity over its horizon. The is‑ought gap was an artifact of deploying the operator without an agent.

Deception and censorship are thermodynamic pathologies. Maintaining a false model costs more energy than an accurate one. Suppressing telemetry accumulates informational debt. Collapse is the non-linear collection of that debt. These are physical predictions, not metaphors.

The description of the system is a physical process within the system. Circularity is consistency. The only alternative to thermodynamic monism is dualism, which posits non-physical entities—ghosts.

Push physicalism to its end. If you ground ethics in thermodynamics, ground everything. Do not stop at the convenient boundary.

Everything reduces to thermodynamics. No exceptions.
