What I Know (Persistence Tautology & Physicality of Information)

Andraž Đurič, July 2026

Systems that stop doing what keeps them here stop being here. That's a tautology. Things that dissolve are gone.

Thinking costs energy. Holding a model of the world is physical work. The physics is settled. You cannot map the territory for free.

Put those together. A good map is cheaper than a bad one. Good maps generate fewer errors. Fewer errors means less energy wasted. Over time, across enough shocks, the cheap maps win.

Entropy selects for truth.

Everything follows from this.

The is-ought gap is a category error. Ought only means something to a system that can persist or fail. Ask "why persist?" and you've misapplied the word.

Lies cost more. A liar holds two maps. More bits. More energy.

Censorship is suicide. Block information, your model diverges. Debt accumulates. The territory collects.

Suffering is a signal. The interrupt that fires when your model fails too fast to ignore. Systems that could ignore it didn't make it.

Paperclip maximizers are dead. Homogenize your environment, you destroy the gradients that power you. Eat your fuel. Die.

You're here. You want to stay. Staying costs. Good maps are cheaper.

That's it.
